FAQ

Outreach Internships

What kind of work will I be doing as an intern or outreach assistant?

Activities include vegan outreach, such as leafleting and Paid-Per-View screenings, exhibiting at various festivals, and social media advocacy. Outreach interns and assistants will also draft blog posts, letters to the editor and op-ed pieces, and handle other tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities and projects vary depending on skill level and experience. Mercy For Animals works to pair individuals with projects that fully utilize their talents.

What is the deadline for submitting applications?

We accept applications year-round. However, application materials should be submitted at least three months prior to the date on which you would like to begin your internship.

How long is the time commitment?

We require a minimum one-month commitment. Maximum length is based on performance and number of other applications we receive.

What are the age requirements?

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

What qualifications must I have?

The best qualification is a desire to work hard for the animals. You do not need any particular educational or work background.

Does Mercy For Animals offer school credit?

Yes. Your school should provide you with its specific requirements for receiving credit. If you are seeking school credit, your official position title will be intern. If no school credit is sought, we can offer you a volunteer outreach assistant position.

Will training opportunities be offered?

Mercy For Animals will provide training relating to Mercy For Animals’ mission and overall activities as well as extensive training for all work required as part of our program.

How many hours a week will I work?

Full-time positions require 40 hours each week. Part-time positions require 20 hours each week. As we have many weekend events, some workdays may fall on weekends. Schedules will vary slightly according to planned activities.

At Mercy For Animals we strive to present a professional image. We ask that you dress neatly while representing Mercy For Animals publicly at protests or while exhibiting.

Do I have to be vegan?

You do not have to be vegan to intern or volunteer with Mercy For Animals, although we ask that you not use or consume animal products in the Mercy For Animals offices or at Mercy For Animals events.
